Art In The Streets at MOCA 2011:FEMALE STREET ART*

I saw this show twice. The first time, I was too visually stimulated... and i was a little hungry too....

The show overall, is excellent. graffiti- cool. did i feel cooler seeing it, ? definitely. It was quite overwhelming at times, because there was a lot of people at the show.... however, my favoritest thing about the show was that never before had I ever seen such an eclectic mix of people at a museum all at once. Young kids to older folks. All ages. All races. All rhythms and styles.

HIGHLIGHTS for me:The Banksy corner- the one that reminds of Rodney King beating- in LA. march like an Egyptian pick-it sign, the big ass church window too-- i wonder if its a reference to Damien Hirst's butterfly church windows in Beverly Hills a couple years ago?

oh oh oh and i REALLY LOVED the "COSMIC ROOM"- that was intense.... its super cool! way unexpected.... and last but not least the lowrider car and the tricked out candy ice cream truck by mr cartoon.... i dunno maybe im biased? .. i think its a chicano thing*

the wow wall was pretty wow too, and the wall covered in doors and the houses on the side walls--- and then and then and then.....

heres a video of the exhibit:

I couldn't make it to this drop off, but it looks like its a great show of a lot of different ideas, its a Bergamot station.

"Que Tan Lejos"- movie

"Los finales felices depende donde pongas el punto... creditos, musica y aplausos"

"Happy endings depend where you put your period at the end...credits, music and applause"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0951297/

Esta pelicula tiene un mensaje interesante al final.... me gusto. Es pelicula Ecuatoriana.... this movie was made in Ecuador. La pelicula es simple con simples cosas que suceden...... simple scenes that occr- nothing too extreme action.... the message is simple and clear in the end, and thats good. el mensaje al final es claro y corto y eso esta muy bien.

This is a good movie, the initial trip changes to a good moral of the story.....

Oh and before I forget, here are the new Barbie Doll designs after the great master artists*

This is from the Barbie Collector Website:
Barbie® doll, the ultimate muse, embodies three major works of art — with a fashion twist — courtesy of visionary designer Linda Kyaw for The Barbie® Museum Collection!

“For the Museum Collection, I wanted to do something different,” Linda explains, “so we went with the most iconic paintings of all time with an emphasis on fashion.” For the collection, she picked works by Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh, and Gustav Klimt.

Excited by the prospect of reinterpreting their paintings, Linda faced several interesting challenges. “Everyone knows the Mona Lisa from the waist up,” she explains, “so I used the color palette of the painting’s background to conceptualize the rest of her dress.” The result is a stunning green, brown and gold-hued renaissance gown with rich brocade shoulders. Linda adds, “Barbie’s face paint was applied by talented painter Ei Fong, who perfectly captured the famous Mona Lisa smile!”

In another remarkable design, Barbie® literally wears Van Gogh’s masterpiece Starry Night. When translating the painting to fashion, Linda found the challenge was “to make it trendy, to fuse the original painting with an edgy fashion dynamic.” The final ensemble, re-imagined as a romantic, full-skirted dress, perfectly reflects the swirling night sky overlooking Saint-Remy, exactly the way Van Gogh painted it!

Gustav Klimt’s glorious-in-gold masterwork Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I is equally arresting in Linda’s hands. “Klimt is one of my favorite artists,” she says, “and for this piece, I picked the stunning Aphrodite face sculpt because it bears a striking resemblance to Adele.” Linda also notes that all dolls are posable for a variety of different looks.

The collection has already garnered so much praise, in light of its timeless and classic appeal. But you don’t have to go to a museum to see them - these dolls are just a click away in the online shop!
